27 February Crossover cables and youIt's weird when a particular issue doesn't seem to get talked about much for a long time, then wham, you see it all over the place. Just in the last few days, I've noticed a bunch of people on the forums advising other people on the forums to use a crossover cable to do system link or PC direct link with their Xbox 360. Honestly, I know you mean well, but stop it. Why? Because:
You don't need a crossover cable with Xbox 360.
It's true. Xbox 360 comes with nifty auto-sensing switching capabilities that renders crossover cables obsolete. Crossover cables still work, but you can use a regular old Ethernet cable to do direct link now. I know where this perception comes from: it was an absolute requirement to do direct system link with original Xbox. But no longer. You're free.
Now, go forth and spread the word. Comments (4)
